Methamphetamine laced with fentanyl was discovered after a suspect was taken into custody by a McCaysville police officer Monday, June 13.
Officer Jordan Wright was patrolling on West Tennessee Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. when he spotted Gretta Jean Bramblett driving.
McCaysville Detective Sergeant Cory Collogan said Bramblett was known not to have a driver’s license. “We have dealt with her on several occasions,” Collogan said.
After performing a traffic stop, Wright confirmed Bramblett did not have a license. Prior to taking her to the Fannin County Detention Center, Wright noticed a large bulge in her sock.
Collogan said Wright discovered two packages containing what he believed to be methamphetamine, one containing approximately 3.24 grams in ten smaller packages prepackaged for resale and the other containing approximately 11.36 grams.
Collogan said the total weight was estimated at 14.60 grams.
Collogan said when he tested the suspected methamphetamine the test was positive for fentanyl.
Collogan said the subsequent search of the vehicle revealed digital scales and a smoking pipe.
Bramblett, 28, of 189 West Tennessee Avenue, Copperhill, was charged with driving without a license, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of drug related objects.
