The City of McCaysville experienced a 55.7% loss of water supply for 2019, according to the Environmental Protection Division’s 2019 Water Audit.
This amounts to a cost of $99,804, which customers are likely paying for.
The city provided customers with 121.171 million gallons of water of the 263.159 million gallons treated at the city’s plant.
The audit shows a real loss of 138.648 million gallons.
The city’s Water and Sewer Service Water Use and Loss Report for 2020 shows losses of 43% in January, 53% in February, 51% in March, 49% in April, 60% in May and 44% in June.
The annual cost for operating the system was $1,919,716 for 2019.
The city lost over half their supply in 2018 as well, which resulted in a $164,174 loss.
