Loud booms and glistening bursts of light will soar through the air Friday, July 3 when the City of McCaysville hosts their annual fireworks show around 9:15 p.m. from Tater Hill.
Folks can expect events to deviate from previous years, as a result of COVID-19.
The First Baptist Church of McCaysville and Copperhill will not host their block party, and there will be no live music, Police Chief Michael Earley said.
Earley expects a “ton” of people to line the streets as loads of phone calls have poured in to the police department since the announcement of the fireworks display.
The train will also run that evening, and everything downtown should be open, according to Earley.
“You know how it is in McCaysville,” Earley said. “Come Friday, I could have a ton of people out there doing events and vendors and everything else and didn’t even know anything about it.”
The police department does not expect to block off any roads.
Head of the city’s revitalization committee, Zach Welch, told the city council that the event is expected to be bigger than ever.
