James McKinley “Jimmy” Bell, who faces multiple felony charges in Polk County, is free.
Bell was arrested December 3, 2020, and booked into the Polk County Detention Center charged with two counts of attempted first degree murder and especially aggravated burglary.
Bell, 49, of Tipton Srings Road in Morganton, was taken into custody by Polk County deputies after pleading guilty to charges in Fannin County and receiving probation.
Captain Keith Barker of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said Monday that during a preliminary hearing, Bell’s case was bound over to the grand jury as charged. However, he was released on his own recognizance pending grand jury action.
Meanwhile, Barker had active drug charges against Bell and he was arrested in connection with those charges. Detention Center records show Bell posted a $15,000 bond on a felony bond revocation charge and was released February 3. That charge has also been bound over to the grand jury.
Barker said Bell’s charges are scheduled to come up before the Polk County Grand Jury in May.
