Jewish Congregation of Blue Ridge lights Menorah to celebrate Hanukkah

The Jewish Congregation of Blue Ridge gathered Sunday, December 18, to light their nine foot tall Menorah to start Hanukkah.

A couple dozen members of the congregation joined together in prayer and song to celebrate the Hanukkah season at the downtown Blue Ridge park.

Each evening at sundown, the Menorah’s candles will light up commemorating each night of Hanukkah.

Rachel Barich spoke to the crowd with the goal of teaching the story of Hanukkah.

Barich explained that Hanukkah is about commemorating the recovery of Jerusalem and redidcation of the Second Temple at the beginning of the Maccabean Revolt.

The night was finished by celebrating with jelly donuts and fellowship.

The Jewish Congregation  of Blue Ridge’s religious leaders are Charlie Chasen, Phil Savrin and Rachel Barich. To learn more about the congregation, visit https://jcbrgeorgia.org/about/.
