Hannah Jack has been named assistant editor of The News Observer.
In making the announcement this week, Glenn Harbison, publisher/editor of the local newspaper, said, “Hannah’s promotion to this position is well-deserved. She has worked hard to prove she is dedicated to the newspaper and to the communities it serves.”
Jack has been with the newspaper for a little over a year, working in both full-time and part-time capacities.
“During the year, she has covered the wide variety of stories readers are accustomed to seeing,” Harbison said.
She has worked on feature stories for both the newspaper and the Welcome magazine, as well as government reporting.
Jack has expressed a desire to further her involvement in the overall operation of the news product. In her new role, she will take an active part in scheduling story assignments and overseeing the production of the newspaper. She will also be more involved in the overall news operation.
Jack plans to graduate from East Tennessee State University in December of this year with a Bachelor of Arts & Sciences, majoring in English Literature and minoring in Journalism.
Along with pursuing her education, Jack is a devoted mother, daughter, and sister in her close-knit family.
In her off-time, Jack enjoys hiking, traveling, whitewater activities, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
Jack said, “I am very grateful for the opportunity to step into this role at The News Observer, and I am devoted to serving the communities of Fannin and Polk counties.”
