Fannin County Sheriff’s Office investigators are asking for the public’s help as they work diligently to determine the facts surrounding the deaths of four miniature animals belonging to Dr. William Mitchell of McCaysville.
Mitchell returned from a trip to Florida Tuesday, March 9, to find his miniature pony, mule and two donkeys dead in his field off Kingtown Street, Investigations Sergeant J.K. Davenport said.
Davenport said the animals had been dead for an undetermined amount of time, and the cause of their deaths has not been determined.
Investigators returned to the area on two separate days last week, talking to neighbors and looking for anyone who might have seen or heard anything.
Davenport encourages anyone who “saw anything or anyone out of place near or around Dr. Mitchell’s residence in the days prior to March 9 to call the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office at 706-632-2044.
