Health district offering Monkeypox vaccine

The North Georgia Health District (NGHD) is now offering Monkeypox vaccinations and testing.

The NGHD has only received limited doses of the monkeypox vaccine as part of the distribution of federally funded JYNNEOS vaccine to public health districts throughout Georgia.

The vaccines are available at no cost to individuals, however, due to the limited supplies, the vaccines will only be available by online appointment and only for people who are currently eligible.

Eligibility is based on the CDC recommendation to prioritize people who are 18 years and older and are at high risk of infection.

For anyone who meets the eligibility criteria for the vaccination, register online at https://gta-vras.powerappsportals.us/en-US/.

Monkeypox testing will be available by appointment only at the Cherokee, Fannin, Gilmer, Murray, Pickens and Whitfield County Health Departments.

Anyone who has concern that they may have monkeypox and wants to be tested should first isolate at home away from others and call their medical provider or county health department to discuss the signs and symptoms.
