Health department won’t test, but other facilities still offer service

While the North Georgia Health District announced last Monday, January 4, that the Fannin County Health Department was one of several departments in the district that would limit the facility’s COVID-19 testing in order to prioritize COVID-19 vaccinations, members of the general population in need of COVID-19 testing still have options for appointment testing in the area.

The Riverstone Medical Campus, located at 101 Riverstone Vista in Blue Ridge, administers tests for symptomatic persons by appointment only. Those wishing to be tested through Riverstone can contact their healthcare provider or the walk-in clinic at 706-946-4200.

Georgia Mountains Health, located at 165 Blue Ridge Overlook in Blue Ridge, is also testing for the virus by appointment only. The facility is not administering rapid tests, only PCR tests, and those in need of testing can call 706-946-4647 to make an appointment.

The North Georgia Health District is still administering drive-thru testing at the Whitfield and Cherokee County health departments by appointment only Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Those in need of testing at these facilities can call 888-881-1474 to make an appointment.

While the Fannin County Health Department has limited testing, they are still testing symptomatic first responders, school employees and court staff at this time.
