Gooch honored for work to help special needs access

The same day as Mountain Area Christian Academy’s field day for students with special needs, the school honored Georgia State Senator Steve Gooch, who represents Fannin County, and District 9 Representative Will Wade Friday, May 7.

The school, along with the American Federation for Children (AFC), thanked the two for their part in the passing of SB 47, which will increase access to Georgia’s Special Needs Scholarship. The legislation was signed into law two weeks ago by Governor Brian Kemp.

“There are children with special needs all over the state – including some at Mountain Area Christian Academy – who can attend the school that fits them best thanks to the Special Needs Scholarship,” said AFC’s Georgia Field Director Christy Riggins. “Because of the commitment that Senator Gooch and Representative Wade have shown to these children, thousands more deserving students will have the chance to thrive academically.”
