Feed Fannin is looking for individuals to join them in their mission of eliminating hunger in Fannin County.
New and past members have been welcomed to join as the organization’s efforts have expanded.
“Not as many people as in years past have been involved,” Feed Fannin Board of Directors Chairman Ron Ciochon said. “What we’re doing is we’re pushing to see where we can find new people from the community who want to help us, and in some cases, people who are our members and have drifted away because life happens.”
Ciochon informed that membership is free, they just ask for one’s time.
Those interested should attend a membership meeting either in person or via Zoom.
The board and members meet the second Thursday of each month at 10 a.m.
The meetings are mainly to allow members to brainstorm ideas and come up with new ways to better serve the community, Ciochon said.
“There are a lot of new skills that we don’t have people who have, particularly in technology and social media and marketing and actually searching for grant money,” he said. “We’ve become aware these are shortcomings of ours.”
As a result, they are looking for members of varied ages and backgrounds to help them complete their mission efficiently.
Feed Fannin is also looking for volunteers to serve on their Nomination Committee, which identifies candidates for election to their Board of Directors.
The organization grows produce and raises funds, which are used toward Fannin County Family Connection’s food pantry.
In addition, they’ve recently been working with the “assisted living community,” providing supplemental boxes to Meals on Wheels, delivering food boxes to Northcourt Apartments monthly, and have contributed to Blue Ridge’s University of North Georgia campus in incorporating an on-site foodbank.
