Fannin County Young Farmers Association (FCYFA) announced the 2022 officers and recognized community supporters during their fifth annual awards banquet Friday, February 4.
The 2022 FCYFA officers announced are:
•President Kenny Queen, incumbent;
•Vice President Darrel Davis, incumbent;
•Secretaries Terri Long, incumbent, Gail Bennett and Dee Henderson;
•Treasurer Kenny Holland; and,
•Director of Public Relations Margery Dallas, incumbent.
During the program, many awards, acknowledgments and certificates were presented to FCYFA members and supporters, including local businesses, farms and community service groups.
Awards were presented to the following recipients:
•Jim Bunnelle with the FCYFA Outstanding Member Applicant for 2021;
•Jamison Cruce with the Young Agriculture Profession Applicant for 2021 (sponsored by The North Georgia Master Gardeners);
•Nick Wollschlager with the Beginning Agriculture Producer for 2021(sponsored by The North Georgia Master Gardeners);
•Darrel and Becky Davis, owners of Triple D Farms, as the FCYFA Farm Family for 2021; and,
•Ace Hardware of Blue Ridge, for the Distinguished Service Award 2021.
Fannin County High School (FCHS) seniors Noah Hess, Evan Fish and Kaleb Couch were recognized as valuable assets to the future of agriculture and the FCYFA. They each were awarded a 2022 membership to the FCYFA and a FCYFA shirt.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to representatives of several local businesses, farms and community groups who supported and sponsored the association for 2021.
The FCYFA reported 101 members and sponsored 25 workshops, talks, tours, social events and meetings during 2021. The organization also awarded $2,500 in scholarships to two FCHS seniors and earned award recognitions at the regional and state levels.
“I am thankful each of you could be here tonight to celebrate the accomplishments of this chapter and to thank those who have helped to make this year a success,” Queen said.
The meal was catered by Carroll’s BBQ and entertainment was provided by Wolf Creek Bluegrass Band.
