Fannin TSA students capture honors at state event

    Fannin County High School and middle school Technology Students of America (TSA) members traveled to the State Conference in Athens, Georgia, March 15 through 18, and came home with enough awards to fill a wheelbarrow.

    Students returned to Fannin County with two first place awards and several top 10 finishes as they went head to head in competitions with students from all over Georgia.

    In high school events, Bryce Ware captured first place in Electrical Applications.

    Taking first place in the Electrathon Lead Acid Battery Class and fifth place in the Advanced Battery Class were the team of Tyler Ensley, driver; Luke Pelfrey, mechanic; James Kyle, designer; and, Devyn Caruthers, mechanic.

    The fourth place Chapter Team went to James Kyle, Sam Jabaley, Seth Hughes, Logan Martin, Carnaceo Dixon, and Conner Kyle.

    The honors kept piling up for the TSA students as James Kyle took fourth place in Outstanding Student, sixth place in Computer Aided Design Engineering, ninth place in Dragster Design, and 11th place in Electrical Applications.

    Kyle and Sam Jabaley combined for a sixth place finish in Digital Video Production.

    Jabaley was the sole seventh place winner in Essays on Technology.

    James Burrell paced Fannin County’s middle school winners, capturing third place in both Cybersecurity and Foundations of Information Technology. Burrell also placed sixth in STEM Animation.

    Ashton and Aric Carder brought home fourth place in Junior Solar Sprint.

    Lyla Strange and Sawyer White captured fourth place in Problem Solving.

    Strange also won fifth place in Digital Photography.

    TSA Advisor Bubba Gibbs said, “These students have done an outstanding job this year. We are proud of their performance, and some of them will be traveling to compete in the National TSA Conference in June in Louisville, Kentucky.”
