James (Jimmy) Lamar Wright, Sr., age 70, of Suwanee, Georgia, passed away November 30, 2022, surrounded by his wife and children.

Jimmy was born in Morganton, October 3, 1952, to the late Thomas Otis and Anna Lou (Bell) Wright. He was the youngest son of ten children.

After graduation in 1970 from Copper Basin High School, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he met the love of his life, Frances (Fran) and also started a 30 year career at General Motors. They were married November 8, 1971, in Ringold, Georgia, and shared over 51 years of marriage together.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Anna Wright; his parents, Otis & Anna Lou Wright; brothers, William Wright and David Wright; and sisters, Barbara Turner, Sarah Worley and Cathy Powers.

Those left to cherish his memory are daughter, Angela Wright of Suwanee, Georgia; sons, James (Candice) Wright, Jr. of Dahlonega, Georgia, and Travis (Veronica) Wright of Cumming, Georgia; grandchildren, Shelby Dodd of Cleveland, Georgia, Zach Crace of Suwanee, Georgia, Alexandra Martin of Wentzville, Missouri, Kylie Martin of Gainesville, Georgia, James Wright III and Virginia Wright of Dahlonega, Georgia, Sean and John Wright of Cumming, Georgia; brothers, Thomas Wright Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia and Hoyt Wright of Morganton; sisters, Martha Edwards of Winder, Georgia and Mary Wright of Morganton; along with numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends.

Services are scheduled for Sunday, December 4, 2022, at 2 p.m. from the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Weldy officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Church Cemetery.

The family received friends Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge.

Pallbearers were Bryan Wright, Tim Wright, Stephen Worley, Zach Crace, Dan Wright, Kevin Ralston, Jason Gray and Sean Wright.
