Veterans Day programs return to Fannin County schools this week as students, staff and administrators pause to salute those who have served and continue to serve our country.
Dr. Michael Gwatney, superintendent of Fannin County schools, said in a community letter Monday, “I am proud of our schools and thankful they have these programs; they mean so much to the men and women who have worn the uniform and take part – either as a spectator or a participant – in the ceremonies.”
The programs are open to the public and are scheduled as follows:
•Wednesday, November 10, 9:00 a.m., Blue Ridge Elementary School, and 1 p.m. Fannin County Middle School;
•Thursday, November 11, 9 a.m., Fannin County High School; and,
•Friday, November 12, 9 a.m., West Fannin Elementary School, and 1 p.m., East Fannin Elementary School.

“Americans turn to our military as a source of national strength. Freedom is not free, and our military covers the cost to preserve it. There is a great pride in our nation’s veterans; because of them, we are free, and thanks to today’s military, we will remain free,” Gwatney said.
