Fannin history documentary joins Smithsonian exhibit at The Art Center

Are you interested in learning more about the evolution of Fannin County?

Join the folks of the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association (BRMAA) and Fannin County High School (FCHS) for a video documentary highlighting the evolution of the community’s rural industry and economy.

Titled “Crossroads: Change in Tri-State Appalachia,” the video documentary will be shown daily through July 17.

The Art Center is located at 420 West Main Street in Blue Ridge. It is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

The video documentary was created by FCHS students Ryan Petersen, Alex Higgins, Isaac Brooks, Kaleb Ledford, Steven Setser, Dominick Cofer, Ethan Baugh and Austin Beyleu, along with FCHS Audio Video Teacher Bubba Gibbs, Steve Procko and BRMAA as a partner exhibition alongside “Crossroads: Change in Rural America.”

It was made possible with “Stories: YES Youth Grant Program.”

The documentary will be permanently housed at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C., Gibbs said.

“I am extremely proud of these students for engaging in such an important historical documentary for the Fannin County area,” Gibbs said. “I hope everyone enjoys this unique perspective on our local area.”
