The Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association (BRMAA) has decided to call off the annual Fall Arts in the Park festival that was scheduled for October 10 and 11.
The cancellation is a result of the ongoing public health concerns related to COVID-19.
“We at BRMAA continue to prioritize the health and safety of our volunteers, artists and community, and this decision was a very difficult one to make as we hoped to provide a much needed creative event for our community this fall,” BRMAA Executive Director Nichole Potzauf said.
As a result of the cancellation, BRMAA will likely take a massive hit as far as funds are concerned as the Arts in the Park festivals serve as the “largest source of operational funding income for BRMAA,” Potzauf said.
“Canceling this event significantly impacts our organization and its operations, which is even more disheartening in our 40th anniversary year.”
All may not be lost, however, as the group is looking to virtual options, similar to what was done with the Spring Arts in the Park.
Lovers of the arts are encouraged to visit BRMAA’s website at www.blueridgeartsinthepark.com to make a donation and check in on details for the fall festival.
