Fannin County voters are being asked to return to the polls December 6 to cast their ballots in the runoff election between Herschel Walker and Raphael Warnock for a U.S. Senate seat.
Election Supervisor Mary Ann Conner said last week polls will be open on election day at every Fannin precinct location from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Early voting begins Monday, November 28, and continues through Friday, December 2, in the registration and election office on the third floor of the Fannin County Courthouse in Blue Ridge.
The office will be open additional hours to accommodate voters. Conner said voting hours will be from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. every day.
Applications for absentee ballots can be made now through Monday, November 28. They must be received in the election office by 7 p.m. on election day, December 6, Conner said.
The runoff election between Walker and Warnock is the only race on the General Election Runoff Ballot.
In the November 8 General Election, Warnock received 1,946,084 votes to 1,908,410 to Walker statewide, according to figures from the Secretary of State’s office. Warnock’s advantage represented a 49.44 to 48.94 percent edge. Those figures were last posted Thursday, November 17.
Libertarian Chase Oliver received 81,364 votes, or 2.07 percent, of the total.
The Secretary of State figures showed 57.2 percent of Georgia’s registered voters cast ballots in the election.
In Fannin County, Walker defeated Warnock 10,036 to 2,230, according to the official and complete Election Summary Report.
63.08 percent of Fannin County registered voters cast ballots in the election.
