Michael Earley, McCaysville chief of police, has been appointed chairman of the Traffic Safety Committee for the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.
The appointment was announced at the annual police chiefs conference in Savannah on July 20 by Chief Janet Moon, president of the association and chief of the Peachtree City Police Department.
Colonel Chris Wright, commander of the Georgia State Patrol, will serve as vice-chairman of the committee.
The committee is charged with examining and making recommendations concerning traffic laws, traffic safety, and traffic enforcement.
Association officials also recommend the committee works closely with the group’s legislative committee as there are usually several legislative bills that affect both.
