Polk County authorities are continuing their investigation into a death reported Thursday morning, November 10.
Detective Cody Day of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said Monday deputies responded to 273 Durwood Drive, Copperhill, where they located Brenda A. Holliman, 79, deceased inside the residence.
Durwood Drive is located in the Grassy Creek area.
The scene was processed and Holliman’s body was sent for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, Holliman’s vehicle was reported stolen by family members.
A BOLO (Be On the Lookout) was issued by Polk County and the vehicle was spotted by Fannin County Deputy Sheriff Corporal Jesse Godsey at the intersection of Curtis Switch and Mineral Bluff Highway.
Godsey followed the vehicle along Curtis Switch Road to Ada Street where the driver turned and headed toward Blue Ridge.
Godsey was joined at the intersection with George Curtis Road by Sergeant John Kinser, Investigations Sergeant J.K. Davenport, Sergeant Jacob Pless, and deputies Brad Mathis and Daniel Myers, where a traffic stop was performed.
Anthony Donovan Cooper, 34, of 273 Durwood Drive, Copperhill, was taken into custody without incident.
According to Fannin County Jail records, he was arrested on a felony probation violation warrant out of Fannin County, and remained held without bond Monday morning.
More Fannin County charges are pending, and Cooper also has holds on him by both Union and Polk counties.
Day said a warrant charging Cooper with Theft of Property (Over $2,500) in connection with the theft of the motor vehicle has been filed in Polk County.
Day said Holliman’s death remains under investigation.
The medical examiner’s office has thus far reported no injuries were found on the victim, and a final determination of the cause of death is pending test results.
