Davenport charged with burning mother’s home

    A Fannin County man was arrested on a charge he burned his mother’s home shortly after the Friday, April 22, fire.

    Justin Reefer Davenport, 29, of 927 Aska Road, is charged with a single count of Arson in the1st Degree, a felony.

    Investigators from the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire arrived at the fire scene soon after 3 p.m., according to a statement by John F. King, Georgia commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire.

    “The fire was determined to have been intentionally set. After questioning and receiving information from several individuals, our investigators placed Mr. Davenport under arrest for arson,” King said.

    A warrant sworn out against Davenport says he
    admitted to setting the fire to the home belonging to his mother.

    King’s statement described the 92-year-old home as containing 1,032 square feet.

    Fannin County Fire Chief Larry Thomas said firefighters were dispatched  to the scene at 12:22 p.m. Friday, April 22.

    Davenport was arrested that same day.
