A large crowd gathered Sunday, January 30, for the re-introduction ceremony of the Daffodil Garden Memorial next to the children’s playground in the downtown Blue Ridge city park. The Blue Ridge Daffodil Garden was originally dedicated November 10, 2013, as a memorial to the 1.5 million child victims of the Holocaust.

Fannin and Gilmer County Extension Agent Ashley Hoppers takes a moment to read about a child who perished during the Holocaust. Everyone who attended the re-introduction ceremony of the Daffodil Garden Memorial Sunday, January 30, was given a program with a biography and picture of a child who was murdered during the Holocaust and a daffodil bulb to plant in their memory.
“Pretend your hands are as warm as your hearts,” North Georgia Master Gardener Denise Atkins said of the windy afternoon Sunday, January 30, as she explained the proper way to plant daffodil bulbs at the Daffodil Garden Memorial reintroduction ceremony.
