Copperhill water customers running dry

Water pressure was minimal throughout the past two weeks in the City of Copperhill.

Around Tuesday morning, June 9, a pallet valve, which controls the pressure regulator, went out at the water department.

“It’s got a pressure regulator, and above the pressure regulator is the pallet valve that controls the pressure regulator coming on and off, and I have no idea what’s wrong with it,” Shawn Taylor, who’s over the city’s water and maintenance, said.

“We called the contractor, and he came up here and said that’s what’s wrong with it, and he had to order the parts.”

Customers experienced a severe lack of water pressure, leaving some unable to use a shower during the day.

In addition, a leak on West Tennessee Avenue Tuesday, June 16 added to the issue, leaving some with no water at all.

The supplies needed for the pressure regulator came in Friday, June 19 but another issue arose, according to City Recorder Suzanne Hughes. As of Monday morning, June 22 the issue had yet to be resolved.
