Members of Copper Basin High School’s Class of 2022 were remembered as “the most sweetest and kind hearted group of students” by CBHS Principal Holly Smith during graduation ceremonies Friday night.
Family and friends filled the stands at the school football field to watch as students received diplomas.
Smith urged the students to, “keep your aim and be successful” during her introduction of the seniors.
Salutatorian Chelsea Stuart reminded her classmates how close they have been during a “four-year sentence” they never thought would end so soon. “We have been there through every hardship for each other,” she said.
She expressed a special thanks to teachers Kevin Smith, Zulma Youngs and Joe Matthews for always being there for the seniors. They exemplified “no man left behind,” she said.
“I will never forget the valuable memories that we have,” Stuart said.
She ended by encouraging her classmates to live by her favorite Bible verse, Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
“The strength to move past all the obstacles is given,” she said.
Valedictorian Carson Fowler then talked of the students’, “end of our long running journey together,” and how they may not ever be in the same place together again.
He encouraged classmates, “You have to remember all the good things that have happened to you,” despite the fact that human brains are hard-wired to remember the bad.
He then recounted many experiences that brought smiles, chuckles and an occasional laugh from classmates.
In the end, he told classmates to “dream a dream and claim it.”
