Family, friends and school officials packed the Copper Basin High School gymnasium Friday night, May 17, to watch the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2024.
The 42 graduates and audience members listened as Valedictorian Maddie Cribbs in her address, “Slipping Through My Fingers,” urged them to “trust in the Lord” as they go forward. “He will lead us to places we never thought we would go,” she assured her classmates.
She also talked about how, looking back on the years spent in school, “How easy it is to take it for granted,” but knows now “moments will never fade away.”
Cribbs closed by reminding the audience, “Every day above ground is a good day.”
CBHS Principal Holly Smith told graduates to, “Never underestimate the power of giving back” as she encouraged them to, “Be the change you want to see in the world.”
Smith also told the Class of 2024, “The future is your’s for the taking.”
Salutatorian Jessie Baliles in her address, “How to Say Goodbye,” reminded classmates of all the good times they had at Copper Basin and expressed her appreciation for her years at the school.
