Several FFA members, Fannin County Board of Commissioners (FCBC) Chairman Jamie Hensley, University of Georgia (UGA) County Extension Agent Ashley Hoppers, employees with the Fannin County maintenance department and the commissioners office all teamed up to clean up overgrown trees and bushes outside the Fannin County Detention Center Wednesday, June 30.
Hensley said, “this is a community effort” to help beautify and care for the plants, trees and grounds that surround us.
FFA members from Fannin County Middle School (FCMS) and Fannin County High School (FCHS) as well as Agriculture teachers from FCMS and FCHS got to get their hands dirty, help and work with community leaders, and learn how to properly prune trees from Hoppers.
“I’ve always enjoyed workin’ outside, and workin’ with FFA members and UGA Extension to clean all this up is even better,” said Hensley.
“It’s all about the community.”
Hensley and Hoppers were delighted and grateful for the effort and hard work from the FFA members, FCMS and FCHS teachers, and Fannin County employees who came out to work in the hot sun to help with the clean up.
