Blue Ridge City Attorney James Balli sent the council and mayor his resignation Thursday, November 4, effective December 31.
“As many of you are aware, at the outset of my agreement to serve as city attorney, I committed to staying a full four year term,” Balli said. “As many times as I was tempted to leave early, I have kept my word. I also discussed with several of you that, regardless of the outcome of the 2021 elections, I would not agree to continue to serve as city attorney past that four year commitment.”
He went on to thank the officials for allowing him to serve and said it had been a pleasure working with the city staff.
In addition, he said he would “make myself available to assist in the transition to a new city attorney.”
