Blood Assurance is hosting a blood drive in partnership with the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office in memory of Corporal Richard Gazaway and his wife Heather Gazaway.
The blood drive will take place Saturday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. across the street from Blue Ridge First Baptist Church at 907 E. Main Street.
Blood Assurance will be donating $10 for every donor that participates. The donated money will go toward a fund set up through Fannin Cares, Inc. for the Gazaway’s daughters.
Blood Assurance already held a blood drive in memory of Gazaway and his wife earlier this month February 8.
At the first blood drive, 44 units of blood were collected which was hosted by Fannin County Sheriff’s Office. $10 was donated by Blood Assurance for every donor that participated with the total being $440. This money was also donated to the fund set up for the Gazaway’s daughters.
President and Chief Executive Officer of Blood Assurance JB Gaskins stated, “We are honored to be able to host these blood drives in memory of the Gazaways and enable the community to help contribute to the fund and help area patients in need by giving blood.”
Blood Assurance is the sole supplier of blood products to Fannin Regional Hospital.
