House Bill 739, to incorporate staggered terms into the City of Blue Ridge Charter, is to be signed by Georgia Governor Brian Kemp any day now.
The bill originally included a section to revise provisions regarding the filling of vacancies, which caused the bill to be withdrawn from the Georgia House of Representatives March 16.
It was then recommitted that same day, and it passed in the House two days later with 76% of votes in support.
The Georgia Senate passed the bill March 25 with 85% of votes in support, and it was then sent to Governor Kemp’s office Monday, April 5, for signing.
