Arts association cancels, reschedules events

Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association (BRMAA) has canceled or postponed the following programs and events:

•Youth-based programming is canceled through the end of June 2020;

•The Annual Dance Recital is canceled;

•All BRMAA sponsored artist guild meetings and community partners meetings is canceled through the end of June;

•All classes and workshops scheduled through the end of May are postponed or canceled to a later date. All classes beginning in June will adhere to the state required meeting guidelines in place at that time;

•The 2020 Summer Youth Art Camp has been canceled. All registered students will be refunded and contacted by the education coordinator;

•The 23rd Annual Writers’ Conference, originally scheduled for April 3 and 4, has been rescheduled to September 4 and 5. New registrations are now being accepted at www.blueridgewritersconference.com;

•The Community Quilt & Fiber Arts Show has been canceled;

•The 3D Off the Wall exhibition has been canceled;.

•Second quarter Artist in Residence Colleen Sterling “Glory of the Mundane” has been postponed to be on display in the third quarter beginning Saturday, July 4. The official artist opening reception is scheduled for Saturday, July 25;

•Third quarter Artist in Residence Don Saunders “The Nature of Blue Ridge” has been rescheduled for the fourth quarter beginning Saturday, October 3rd with an opening reception scheduled for that same date;

•The 44th Annual Spring Arts in the Park will occur virtually. Visit www.blueridgeartsinthepark.com beginning May 15 to participate; and

 •Smithsonian Institution’s Crossroads: Change in Rural America Exhibit and Events has been postponed for a later date.

“We are working with our partners at the Smithsonian Institute and Georgia Humanities to solidify new dates. At this time, we are hopeful for a mid-June opening,” BRMAA Executive Director Nichole Potzauf said.
