    Fannin County Animal Control had 18 dogs in their care as of Friday morning, April 22.

    This past week, six dogs were taken in, while four were adopted.

    One dog was reclaimed by owners and one dog was taken in by the Humane Society of Blue Ridge.

    Volunteers are welcome to visit, walk and play with dogs at the facility during business hours.

    The animal control facility is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

    After those hours, officers follow up on community concerns and respond to stray calls.

    To reclaim dogs, owners must show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination or pay to have them vaccinated.

    Anyone who would like to make donations for improvements to the facility or for the care of the dogs may do so by visiting that website as well.

    Animal Control is located at 1001 Fannin Industrial Park in Blue Ridge.

    The Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is Ashley. This gorgeous one-year-old Tortoiseshell has the most beautiful gold eyes! Ashley is a big fan of people, but not of other cats. She wants you to only have eyes for her, and in return she will give you all of her affection. Ashley desires simple pleasures – a lap to sit in and a window to look out of.
