  • The Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is Emma. She is a gorgeous, healthy 10-year-old tabby who is looking for a quiet home where she is the only pet. Emma is so easy going and extremely affectionate with people. She would love a home with a screened porch or a window with a view so that she can do her bird watching.     Fannin County Animal Control had 18 dogs in their care as of Friday morning, March 25.

    This past week, seven dogs were taken in while two were reclaimed and another was adopted.

    Homeward Bound Pet Rescue took two dogs, and the Humane Society of Blue Ridge took in one.

    Volunteers are welcome to visit, walk and play with dogs at the facility during business hours.

    The animal control facility is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    After those hours, officers follow up on community concerns and respond to stray calls.

    To reclaim dogs, owners must show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination or pay to have them vaccinated.
