  • The Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is Oreo. He is a year old and is so endearing. He wants nothing more than to be adored and to have a nice, cozy lap to snuggle on. Oreo loves to talk when he wants his favorite food – Fancy Feast! He is playful and gets along well with his Adoption Center suite-mates.     Fannin County Animal Control is filled with dogs big and small, fluffy and scruffy.

    This past week, nine dogs were taken in, while one was reclaimed and two more were adopted.

    Homeward Bound Pet Rescue took one dog and Katz & Dawgs Rescue took two.

    Volunteers are welcome to visit, walk and play with dogs at the facility during business hours.

    The animal control facility is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    After those hours, officers follow up on community concerns and respond to stray calls.
