Community help is being sought for veterans needing help getting to and from medical appointments.
Paul Hunter, commander of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 28 in Blue Ridge, said last week volunteers are needed to drive the DAV van to and from VA appointments.
“If you would thoughtfully consider giving your time, even it it’s only once a month, our veterans would certainly be grateful. The only requirements are a clean driving record and a willing heart,” Hunter said.
Anyone willing to help is urged to contact John Bailey 706-851-5204.
Hunter said that, additionally, the local DAV chapter does not receive any funding from either the state or national DAV chapters. “We are always seeking operational expenses,” he said.
Maintaining the van and the Veterans Conference Center consume a large portion of the funds received. Donations can be mailed to DAV Chapter 28, P.O. Box 1380, Blue Ridge, Georgia, 30513.
“We certainly recognize and appreciate how supportive and generous our community continues to be,” Hunter said.
