Six candidates entered local races when election qualifying got underway Monday, March 2, in the Fannin County Board of Elections and Registration office.
A total of three local contests are open during this 2026 mid-term election cycle. They include the Post 2 seat on the Fannin County Board of Commissioners currently held by Glenn Patterson, and school board seats occupied by Bobby Bearden and Mike Cole.
The incumbents have all said they will not seek re-election.
Monday saw four Republican qualifiers for the commission seat, according to Election Superintendent Mary Ann Conner. The four are Brian Burgess, John Davenport, Larry J. Henderson and Anna Marie Watkins.
One candidate for each of the school board seats qualified on the Republican ballot. Tim Doherty qualified for Bobby Bearden’s seat, and Rhonda Jacobs entered the race for Mike Cole’s seat.
Qualifying continues each day this week before ending Friday, March 6, at noon.
