A family experience years ago inspired a member of the Fannin County High School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) to prepare and serve a meal for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Atlanta.
Lyla Webb, co-president of FCCLA, brought the idea to the chapter.
Chapter advisor Kristen Stone explained Webb had been inspired by her own family’s experience years ago when the Ronald McDonald House provided her family a close-by place to stay while her brother was hospitalized.
“Her personal connection turned into a meaningful day for all of us to give back,” Stone said.
On July 21, FCCLA members made the trip to the Ronald McDonald House for the meal and to deliver thousands of pop tops collected throughout the school year to support the House.
“The meal we shared and every pop top we delivered brings comfort, hope and a little more love to families who need it most. Small acts can make the biggest difference,” Webb said.
FCCLA is a student led organization that empowers youth to become leaders in family and consumer sciences through career preparation, community service and leadership development.
