Fannin County firefighters are being credited with saving the lives of two residents after a home caught fire Saturday night.
Firefighters were dispatched to the home on Windy Ridge Road after the caller to 911 said she was on oxygen and could not get out of the house.
Firefighters arrived on the scene at 8:43 p.m., five minutes after being dispatched. They reported an active residence fire, with the fire coming from the basement.
Fannin County Fire Chief Larry Thomas confirmed that two people were rescued from the structure.
The scene commander reported the fire was “knocked down” at 8:57 p.m.
However, the home suffered enough damage that the Red Cross was called to assist the victims.
