Jerry Lord

Jerry Calvin Lord, age 75, of Morganton, passed away September 22, 2021, in Blue Ridge.

He was born September 1, 1946, at his life-long home in Morganton. Jerry was the son of the late Frank Lord and the late Ruby Hayes Lord. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry Lord and Marvin Lord; and sisters, Glynda Watkins and Linda Brookshire.

Jerry loved to hunt, work the land and to just be outdoors. He had a passion for God’s word and could be regularly found reading the Bible or listening to various teachings. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. His love for each was easily seen through the sparkle of his eyes and patient smile. He took pride in being a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years, Brenda Lord; son, Matthew (Nicole) Lord; daughter, Misty Lord; sister, Mary Tritt; brother-in-law, Fred Watkins; grandchildren, Bearon Ray, Morgan Nelson, Mckinley Lord and Levi Lord; godchildren, Lisa Lord Hughes and Frank Lord; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family received friends at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home of Blue Ridge, Friday, September 24, 2021, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Graveside services were conducted Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 1 p.m. at the Concord Baptist Church Cemetery, Morganton, with the Rev. Randy Hooper officiating. Military Honors were provided by The North Georgia Honor Guard.

The following gentlemen were asked to serve as pallbearers: Hayden Crawford, Bearon Ray, Ryan McDaris, David McDaris, Frank Lord, Junior Carrol, Andy Crawford and Doug Crawford. Honorary pallbearers include Levi Lord, Doug Watkins and Wyatt Crawford.

The family would like to offer their sincere gratitude to Amanda Galloway for providing the music.
