Freddie Green

Fred “Freddie” Green, age 83, of Blue Ridge, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Fannin Regional Hospital.

He was born September 10, 1938, in Blue Ridge, to the late George Albert Green and Mattie Queen Green. Freddie was of the Baptist faith. He worked for the Fannin County Road Department. He also mowed lawns, and he owned Green’s Garbage Service. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda Rhodes Green; brothers, Wade Green, JR Green, Thomas Green, Leonard Green, Joyce Lee Green, Albert “John” Green, Robert Green, James Green; and sister, Evelyn Panter.

Freddie is survived by his wife of 31 years, Peggy Green; son, Lee Green; sisters, Mildred Ellington and Margaret Bell; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 4, 2022, at 2 p.m. from Welcome Hill #2 Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Carter officiating. Music was provided by Richard White, J.C. Lewis, Margaret Lewis and Denise Sutton.

Interment followed in the Welcome Hill #2 Church Cemetery with Kenny Tarpley, Albert Green, Justin Green, Gerald McMillan, Wesley Green and Butch Anderson serving as pallbearers. Honorary escort was Ricky Morgan, Jackie Rhodes and Ferrell Rogers.
