Francis “Frankie G” Joseph Gillespie Jr.
Francis “Frankie G” Joseph Gillespie Jr., age 67, of Blue Ridge, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021.
He was born February 19, 1953, in Oceanside, New York, to the late Francis Joseph Gillespie Sr. and the late Mary Lou de-la-Torrie Deckert. He was a member of The Ridge Community Church, where he enjoyed attending from the first time he came through the door. He was active with the Friday Morning Group from the church that meets at Blue Jeans.
He was actively working with the Friday Morning Group and was very involved with helping in the community. He loved his church, the members and Pastor Chan Mitchell. Frank was a talented drummer who toured with several bands over the years and a cook for Young Harris College and Mercier’s Orchards.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Campbell Gillespie; brother, John E. (Elena) Deckert; step-brother, Bruce (Kim) Smith; sister, Carole Ann Gillespie; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou (Tim) McMichen and Sherry Henderson; brother-in-law, Tim (Laurel) Campbell; cousin, Sally Brown; special nieces, Sarah Deckert and Spencer Lanning; his special dog, Murray; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and too many friends to mention.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 9, at 11 a.m. at The Ridge Community Church, 960 Millholland Road, Mineral Bluff.
