Hayden “Benny” Elliot, age 66, of Ellijay, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly May 3, 2022, in Ellijay.

He was born in Gilmer County, to the late William Dudley and Mary Davenport Elliott. He was retired from J.M. Huber as a mill operator after 19 years of service. Benny was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He especially loved his weekly trips with his brother, David to Bucktown to check on the deer for hunting season. Benny was also an avid NASCAR fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Joseph Elliott; and one sister, Jannie Sisson.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Virginia Hunter Elliott, of the home; children, Jacob Elliott, Jason Elliott, both of Jasper, Georgia, Robert and Adela Tallent, of Topeka, Kansas, Gregory and wife LeAnn Tallent, of Vonore, Tennessee, and Nicole Self, of Ellijay, Georgia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Sue Elliot, David and Katie Elliott, all of Ellijay, William Elliott, of Calhoun, Georgia; sisters and one brother-in-law, Cora Mae and Thomas Payne, of Ellijay, and Betty Burgess, of Jasper, Georgia; grandchildren, Caytlyn Elliott, Brittney Franklin, Jordan Tallent, Logan Tallent, Landon Tallent, Adam Tallent, C.J. Tallent, Hunter Self, Aleea Self, Marlaina, Gage and Michelle Gage; great-grandchildren, Iva Welch, Harper Franklin, Athena Gage and Monty Gage; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and James Stepp, James Hunter, Paul and Charlotte Hunter, Sarah Hunter, Margaret Hunter, all of Blue Ridge, and Kenneth and Vickie Hunter of Ducktown; and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services were Friday, May 6, 2022, at 4 p.m. from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Jamie Kerr officiating. Music was provided by Diane Dehart.

Interment followed in the Friendship #3 Baptist Church Cemetery with the following gentlemen serving as pallbearers: Jordon Tallent, Logan Tallent, C.J. Tallent, Adam Tallent, Bryan Elliott, Huston Elliott and Bobby Elliott. The following gentlemen were selected to serve as honorary pallbearers: Clark Stepp, James Stepp, Hunter Self and Alpesh Patel.
