Barbara Ann Wall Barron, age 92, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away March 17, 2022, at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton.

Barbara was born to the late John Truett Wall and Lorene Crawford Wall July 14, 1929. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Lieutenant (J.G.) Thomas Albert Wall; and her husband, Espy Lee Barron.

She graduated from Blue Ridge High School and attended Shorter College and the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. In 1970, she was a member of the pioneer team that initiated Project Head Start in Fannin County, and she continued as a Project Head Start leader until her retirement in 1990.

Until she relocated from Blue Ridge, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Blue Ridge, where she served as organist, pianist and choir member for many years.

Barbara loved going to the beach. Her favorite was Daytona Beach, where she spent her honeymoon. She was an avid sports fan, especially of the Atlanta Braves. She celebrated the 2020 Braves World Championship by sending digital pictures of herself wearing her Braves Championship T-shirt to her family and friends. She bled Red and Black, and like the rest of us, reveled in the Dawgs’ 2021 National Championship. She was a star player on her family’s Christmas Eve Game Night, and everyone wanted her on their Trivial Pursuit team.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Lee Barron, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Trudy Clifton (Mitchell), of Austin, Texas, and John Barron (Lori), of Rocky Face, Georgia. Her grandchildren are Sarah Emmel Turinsky (Grant), of Raleigh, Trevor Clifton, of Dallas, Texas, Wade Barron, of Atlanta, and Will Barron, of Atlanta. Her great-grandchild is Barron Turinsky, of Raleigh.

Private graveside services were conducted Sunday, March 20, 2022, in the Chastain Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Bob Richardson officiating.
