A Fannin County woman is out of jail under a $76,500 bond after being charged with seriously injuring her baby.
Kayleigh Bonnie Rogers, 19, of 60 Ross Road, Blue Ridge, was arrested Friday, March 25, on seven felony charges that included three counts of cruelty to children in the first degree, three counts of aggravated battery and one count of false statements.
Warrants charging Rogers were sworn out by Investigator Erin Sehl of the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office.
Those warrants cite multiple broken bones and other serious injuries being inflicted on the child.
Sehl said she was notified by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta of the child’s condition. That call was made to the sheriff’s office November 9, 2021, according to the warrants.
Rogers had been referred there directly after alleging the baby had another issue not related to the injuries that were discovered.
Rogers was not allowed to leave the hospital with the baby, who was immediately placed into foster care.
Under Rogers’ bond conditions, set by Fannin County Chief Magistrate Judge Brian Jones, Rogers is to have no contact with the child or any juvenile under the age of 18.
The bond also stipulates that any violation of the conditions can result in an immediate arrest on criminal charges and the revocation of the bond without release, meaning she can be denied another bond.
Following the initial report of the injuries in November, an extensive investigation resulted.
That investigation revealed the injuries to the baby were believed to have occurred sometime between July 25, 2021, and November 9, 2021, according to the warrants.
Rogers was released from jail the same day as her arrest.
