Sarah “Sally” Thomason Kell, age 91,  passed away  December 29, 2021, at the Life Care Center of the Copper Basin.

Sally Thomason Kell,  was born January 13, 1930, to the late Arlie Thomason and Gertrude Queen Thomason. Sally was a beloved wife, mother, sister, daughter and aunt. She was the wife of Marty Kell and mother of Beth Kell and Bonnie Kell. She was predeceased by her husband and her daughter, Beth. Sally was a teacher for over 30 years in the Fannin County and Polk County school systems. She loved her students and loved teaching. She was a Master School Teacher.

Sally was a member of the Tennessee Honor Society for teachers and had her master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee. Sally was a co-founder of the Green Gold Conservancy and a gifted storyteller, who shared her love for mountain stories with children and adults throughout the region. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of McCaysville/Copperhill, where she taught adult Sunday school for years.

Sally is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Kell; and her nieces and nephews, Laurie Lindgren, Grey Lindgren, Tom Lindgren, Margaret Lawrence, Rob Lawrence, Kim Kell Stinson and Tain Kell.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ducktown Basin Museum.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Finch-Cochran Funeral Home of McCaysville.
