Reverend Donald Lee Hood (Don), 67, beloved husband of Glenda Hunter Hood, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 19, 2020, at his home surrounded by family and friends. During the face of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), he boldly stood before many praising God for this infirmity and continuously gave God the Glory throughout.

He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 20 years, Glenda Hood, as well as his wonderful family. His siblings are Louise White (husband CL) and brother Billy Hood (wife Dori). His five children are Chad Hood (wife Heather), Jonathan Hood (wife Rhonda), Amanda Hood, Sharon Burke (husband Joe) and Greg Farmer (wife Karen). Fourteen grandchildren are Will Hood, Sam Hood, Ben Hood, JD Hood, Joshua Hood, Madelyn Hood, McKenna Hood, Tyler Cowell (wife Stephanie), Ashley Costas, Jackson Rogers, Cassie Land (husband Chris), Justin Henry (wife Megan), Gabrielle Collis (husband Grant) and Joseph Farmer. His seven great-grandchildren are Elijah Tatum, Ava Tatum, Alainia Alderson, Jaxson Henry, Bentley Henry, Haegen Collis and Allie May Collis.

Don was born in Monterey, California to Martha Fannie Hood and William Paul Hood on December 23, 1952. He grew up in Cherokee County and enjoyed his young years very much. After high school he joined the Marine Corp but soon learned that the military life was not the way for him.

Don was a friend and spiritual leader to many. He is known in the North Georgia communities as a man of faith and integrity where he served as a Pastor for over 40 years to many local churches. He was also an insurance agent for Liberty National for over three decades.

He loved spending time with his family and he and Glenda always enjoyed hosting family gatherings at their home. He loved politics and watching baseball. Don had a love for the outdoors enjoying hunting, camping, riding horses and driving his tractor around the farm.

His talents and gifts were playing the piano, picking his guitar and expounding on the word of God. He wrote over 28 devotions, which his son Chad compiled in a book called Upon The Mountain. He was full of character, life and love. He never allowed ALS to define him but lived as a man who served Christ and tried to put others first. His strength never wavered, and his smile never faded. His legacy of faith and hope will be continued by his family and friends.
