Ben “Benny” Russell Turner of Stone Mountain, Georgia, formerly of Copperhill, passed away October 30, 2022, at The Oaks in Decatur, Georgia.

Ben was the first-born child of the late Charles E. Turner and Naomi Chancey Turner.

Ben graduated from Copper Basin High School. During high school, he participated in all athletic activities including football, baseball and basketball. He was an avid University of Tennessee Vols fan. After Ben graduated from Tennessee Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology, he accepted a position with Russell Stover Candy, Inc., as an Industrial Engineer. He worked closely with the legal department at which time he developed a keen interest in law. He returned to college and received his J. D. degree in law. He was admitted to the Georgia Bar Association and the American Bar Association in 1975.

After being admitted to the Bar, he accepted a position with Webb, Tanner, & Powell Law Offices in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Ben later in 1985 opened Ben Turner & Associates in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He retired in 2007. After retirement, Ben remained active in his Clarkston United Methodist Church serving in several different positions and offices. He met monthly with his men’s Bible study group. His passion in his church work was the food pantry. Ben always loved helping others!

Ben is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; brother, Charles Eddie Turner (Susie), of Rock Hill, South Carolina; sisters, Linda (Jon) Lanier Manchester, Georgia and Kathy (Gene) Welch of Childersburg, Alabama; Uncle Roy (Mary Ruth) Chancey, of Cleveland, Tennessee; Sisters-in-law, Clara Denton and Betty E. Turner, of  Tucker, Georgia, Wanda (James) Adams of Postelle, Tennessee; brother-in-law, William Turner, Epworth. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Memorial services were held Saturday, December 3, 2022, at 1 pm, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 585 Madola Road. Epworth.

A reception will be held in the Alexander Haren Memorial Hall at Epworth United Methodist Church following the service. Cremains will be interred at the Epworth Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Epworth United Methodist Church - Turner Park Endowment Fund - at P. O. Box 163 Epworth, Georgia 30541.
