Fannin County school board members emerged from an executive session lasting a little over an hour to give School Superintendent Shannon Dillard high marks on her annual evaluation.
Board members huddled behind closed doors during their regular meeting Thursday, December 11, for their annual review of the superintendent.
Following that meeting, Board Chairman Mike Cole announced three goals set for Dillard had been reviewed: attaining a high level of student achievement; organizational effectiveness; and stakeholder support and satisfaction.
He said Dillard “meets or exceeds expectations” for each of those goals. “I think you’re doing a great job,” Cole told Dillard.
His thoughts were echoed by other board members as they addressed Dillard.
Adam Born thanked her for her “stewardship” to the system.
Bobby Bearden said he appreciated Dillard’s “love and concern for our students and for our school system.”
Ashley H. Weeks praised Dillard, pointing out “all the unseen work you do is a lot more than people realize.”
Dillard responded by saying she was “humbled and happy” to serve the students and people of Fannin County.
Later, in her comments closing the meeting, she praised those who work in the system saying, “Everybody does reach out to make everybody else the best they can be,” which is something many school systems cannot say.
