A trio of Fannin County High School weightlifters came home state champions in the Lee Murray State Weightlifting Championships March 7 at Heard County High School in Franklin, Georgia.
Troy Partain is the state champion in the 140-pound weight class. Bryson Cole is the 190-pound weight class state title holder. Issac Watkins was crowned state champ in the 245-pound weight class.
Partain had a max bench press lift of 195 pounds and a max power clean lift of 195 pounds for a total weight of 390 pounds.
Cole had a max bench press lift of 300 pounds and 315 pounds in the power clean category for a total weight of 615 pounds.
Watkins had a max bench press lift of 315 pounds and max power clean lift of 295 pounds for a total of 610 pounds.
As a team, Fannin placed third in the meet.
In the 140-pound class, Jose Valesquez finished in second place. He lifted 215 pounds in bench press and 170 pounds in the power clean for a total of 385 pounds.
In the 190-pound class, Isaiah Stephens finished in fourth place with a total weight of 480 pounds. He had a max bench press of 255 pounds and a max power clean of 225 pounds.
In the 225-pound weight class, Odin Rea-Gutierrez finished in fourth place with a total weight of 580-pounds lifted. His bench press max was 315 pounds and his power clean max was 265 pounds.
