Fannin County’s Hudson York threw 75 pitches and completed five innings for the home field win against Coosa High School March 19.
York dominated Coosa. He gave up just one run on three hits and struck out five for Fannin as the Rebels offense took care of business with five runs in the second, one in the third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth to win the five-inning game 11-1.
Fannin fell behind 1-0 to start the second inning, then answered with five runs in the bottom half.
Rebel Cayden Reece led off the inning with a walk. He stole second base and reached third on a wild pitch, and scored on a single by Karson Brown. Brown reached second on a single by Reid Holloway then advanced to third on a fielders choice off the bat of Rylin Davis. Davis stole second base moments later. Casen Bailey walked, then Drew Barfield was hit by a pitch, allowing Brown to score. Eli Queen walked scoring Davis. Barfield and Bailey later scored on a single by Nate O’Neal to put Fannin ahead 5-1.
In the third, York walked and his courtesy runner Brody Burnette scored on a Holloway sacrifice fly. Fannin led 6-1 after three innings.
Fannin tacked on three more runs in the fourth inning. Queen was hit by a pitch and O’Neal doubled before both scored on a double by Reece. Reece then scored on a single by Brown. Fannin led 9-1 after four innings.
The Rebels closed the game out with two runs in the fifth inning.
Barfield doubled, advanced to third on a fielders choice and scored on a Coosa infield error. Bradburn reached on the error and later scored on a single by Burnette. The game was called at that point by run rule.
Barfield finished 2-for-3 with an RBI. O’Neal was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Reece was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Brown was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Burnette, Queen and Holloway each finished with an RBI.
