Seniors tops among volleyball stat leaders
The Fannin County Lady Rebels volleyball team is riding atop a 18-3 record as it sets its sights on post season play.
Among Fannin’s victims this year have been Gilmer County twice, Pickens County, and region foes Chestatee, Gordon Central, Dade County and Dalton Academy.
Two of the Lady Rebels defeats have come in their most recent outings, one against the Darlington School, a private school in Rome, Georgia, Tuesday, September 3, and the other at the hands of the Armuchee Indians Thursday, September 5.
A group of four seniors, Kaylie Davenport, Bailee Stiles, Maddie Pelfrey and Rylee King is joined by five juniors, Maya Butler, Maggie Ledford, Keslie Kea, Karis Hurd and Kendall Clore. One freshman, Ashlyn Jones, is also on the varsity squad.
Ledford, who was recently honored for passing the 1,000 assist mark, leads the team in that category this season with 132. Jones is next in line, having recorded 95 assists.
Pelfrey sets the pace in digs with 110, which is an average of 3.7 per set. She, too, was recently honored for passing the 1,000 mark in that category.
Davenport has recorded 67 digs this season, 2.2 on average in each set.
Davenport is also the kill leader for the Lady Rebels with 112, an average of 3.7 per set.
Kea has added 44 to the kill total, followed closely by Stiles with 36.
Other kills have been recorded by Ledford with 29 followed by Clore with 24, King with 23, Hurd with 22, Butler with eight, and Jones with four.
The blocking leader for the Lady Rebels is Stiles with 11, followed by Clore with nine and Kea with five.
The honor for serving aces goes to Jones who has scored 35, 1.2 per set. Ledford has scored 30 and Pelfrey 27.
The Lady Rebels are currently ranked fourth in 1A Area 7.
The season stats represent sets played through August 28.
